Andrea Jung is the Canadian born CEO of Avon Products, a position she has held since 1999. Avon's global sales were reckoned to be $11 billion. Her salary including bonuses is somewhere in the region of $7 million a year.
Andrea Jung was born in Toronto to Chinese parents and she grew up speaking both English and Mandarin. She attended Princeton University where she gained a BA in English Literature. From there she joined Bloomingdales management training programme and hasn't looked back since.
Ms Jung joined Avon in 1994 as President of Product Marketing and by 1996 she was Global Marketing President.
She also sits on both Apple and General Electric boards.
Andrea is ranked the 6th most powerful businesswoman by Fortune for 2011, a one place fall from 5th in 2010.
It is estimated that since Ms Jung became CEO in 2001, Avon sales have increased by 30% and profits by a superb 40%.
A final interesting fact I learned was that in Brazil there are a staggering 1.5 million Avon reps due to the lack of internet access and sales being generated by the good old fashioned process of door to door selling.
