"SpaceX's goal is the reduced cost and increased private availability of rocket launches will allow space travel on a much larger scale. Commercial rocket launches are now being used by NASA as the USA no longer has a space shuttle program."
SpaceX is the brainchild of the co-founder of PayPal, Elon Musk. It's aim is simple. Commercial space flight. It differs from Virgin Galactic in that it is really aiming not for space tourists, but for the transportation of people who are going to live and work in space... astronauts and cosmonauts. NASA have expressed an interest in their Falcon rockets.
The next US astronauts to go into space are being launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan, hitching a ride on a Russian rocket.
