Interesting news that the Welsh Government are planning to buy Cardiff Airport from current owners TBI.
The deal looks in place and the government will appoint a firm to run it on behalf of the Welsh Assembly. First Minister Carwyn Jones said the airport will be run as a commercial entity and and will not receive any government subsidies. Any profits will make a “return to the Welsh taxpayer”.
Welsh Nationalists Plaid Cymru have welcomed the news.
It will be interesting to see if the Airport does bring in revenue to the Welsh Assembly coffers and if so, will this start a new wave of nationalisation?
